What is a .POTX file?
Everything worth knowing about PowerPoint Open XML Presentation Template files.
A POTX file is a PowerPoint Open XML presentation template. It holds the design (theme colors, fonts, slide masters, layouts) but no actual slides. Open it in PowerPoint via File > Open to edit it; double-clicking creates a new presentation from the template instead. LibreOffice Impress, Google Slides, and PowerPoint for the web open POTX files for free.

Is my .POTX file uploaded anywhere?
No. Your .POTX file is unpacked and drawn for you.
Will it look exactly like in PowerPoint?
Close, but not pixel-perfect. Text, shapes, pictures, tables, colours and the theme are redrawn from the file. Animations, transitions, charts, SmartArt and some special effects are simplified or skipped.
Can I see the speaker notes?
Yes. Notes appear under the current slide whenever the author added them, and they're counted in the info panel.
What about old .PPT files?
For PowerPoint 97-2003 files the viewer extracts the text of every slide, titles and bullets included, but doesn't draw the layout yet. Save the file as PPTX for a full preview.
And Apple Keynote?
Keynote files keep their slides in a proprietary format. If the file contains its built-in preview image we show it; otherwise export the deck from Keynote as PPTX or PDF.
