What is a .VMC file?
The most common data format on the web.
A VMC file is a plain XML settings file for a Microsoft Virtual PC or Virtual Server virtual machine. It stores RAM, CPU, disk paths, and network settings, paired with a .VHD disk image. Microsoft Virtual PC is discontinued and does not run on Windows 8 or later. To use the VM today, attach the companion .VHD file to Oracle VirtualBox or Hyper-V, both available on Windows 10 and 11.
