What is a .VBE file?
The most common data format on the web.
A VBE file is a VBScript whose source code was scrambled by Microsoft's Script Encoder to hide it. Double-clicking one runs it immediately via Windows Script Host; it does not show the code. To inspect one safely, decode it back to readable VBScript first with a Script Decoder, then open the result in a text editor. Treat any unexpected VBE file as hostile.
