What is a .IDF file?
The most common data format on the web.
An IDF file is usually a MIDI Instrument Definition File, a small plain-text settings file that tells audio-production software how to address a MIDI instrument (patch names, channel assignments, key maps). Open it in any text editor: Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on macOS. If the file contains building or HVAC data instead, it is an EnergyPlus Input Data File, an unrelated format that shares the same extension.
